June 22 (Renewables Now) - US solar finance and development company Sol Systems said on Tuesday it has acquired a 91-MW DC solar project in Indiana from a joint venture between Orion Renewable Energy Group LLC and Eolian LP.

The value of the purchase from Orion Renewable Power Resources LLC was kept under wraps.

The so-called Grandview scheme envisages the construction of a solar photovoltaic (PV) park in Indiana’s Spencer County to produce electricity for more than 13,000 homes annually. Washington DC-based Sol Systems said it will develop the project and be the plant’s operator.

“The Grandview project will improve regional electric grid resiliency and reliability by adding pollution-free resources during peak hours that are coincident with high consumer demand on the hottest and sunniest days when the system is increasingly at risk” said Aaron Zubaty, CEO of Eolian.

The purchase further expands Sol System’s portfolio in the Midwest, to which it added 540 MW DC of assets in Illinois by purchasing a trio of projects from renewable energy company Arevon Energy in February. Currently, the company says it is developing more than 2 GW of solar projects across the US.
