SMA Solar gets inverter, O&M deals for 100-MW project in Canada
Sep 18, 2014 - German solar inverter maker SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92) will supply 125 central inverters and will provide operation and maintenance (O&M) services for the 100-MW Kingston solar farm in Canada.
The project is being developed by Samsung Renewable Energy Inc, a unit of South Korean group Samsung C&T Corp (SEO:000830). In direct current (DC) its capacity is 140 MW.
SMA Solar said in a press release today it has signed the order and the 10-year O&M contract with project company Kingston Solar LP, without disclosing any financial details. It will begin equipment deliveries in 2014 and will take on the O&M responsibility once the plant has achieved commercial operation.
Located in Ontario’s city of Kingston, the solar park expected to be Canada’s biggest solar power generation facility when completed. It is to commence operations in 2015.
Last year, SMA was also contracted to provide O&M services and to supply inverters for another utility-scale solar scheme in Ontario -- the 130-MW DC Grand Renewable Solar scheme in Haldimand County. This is also a project developed by Samsung.
