India’s Websol tables plan for 1.8-GW solar cell, module production
Jul 04, 2022 8:42 CESTMay 18 (Renewables Now) - Irish blue economy developer Simply Blue Group today announced plans for two floating wind projects off the coast of Sweden with a combined capacity approaching 5 GW.
The company intends to build the 2-GW Skidbladner plant about 100 km southeast of Stockholm and the 2.75-GW Herkules facility some 60 km southeast of the Island of Gotland. It is working with sector consultancy Wind Sweden on both projects.
“Our project selection has focused on sites that we believe are environmentally friendly and at the same time technically and commercially feasible,” commented Adrian de Andres, Director Market Development at Simply Blue Group. He added he anticipates steep cost reductions in relation to floating wind in the next decade.
Last month, the Cork-based firm said it had teamed up with Spanish companies Proes Consultores and FF New Energy Venture (FF NEV) to explore floating offshore wind opportunities in Spain and Portugal.
