US solar developer Silicon Ranch has expanded a 4-GW master supply agreement with First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR), securing a further 700 MW of the Arizona-based manufacturer’s thin-film solar modules for its growing portfolio of contracted solar projects, the two said on Thursday.
The companies agreed the 4-GW supply deal in April this year. It called for Silicon Ranch to receive the modules from 2023 to 2025. First Solar and Silicon Ranch have been partnering since 2015.
According to the announcement, the expanded deal is in line with both companies’ commitments to increase domestic supply and promote lower-carbon production processes.
Silicon Ranch noted it has recently announced other new agreements with strategic US partners, including a deal with Nextracker in May for 1.5 GW of Nextracker’s solar tracker technology through 2024, with expansion options.
