April 20 (Renewables Now) - US renewables firm Silicon Ranch Corporation on Wednesday dedicated a 52-MW solar plant in Jeff Davis County, Georgia that will sell the generated electricity and environmental attributes to Green Power EMC.

The facility spans over 480 acres (194 ha) of land where more than 630,000 solar panels are installed. It was built by McCarthy Building Companies and will be owned and operated in the long term by Silicon Ranch. The construction process supported more than 300 jobs.

This is the second such plant to be constructed under Silicon Ranch’s partnership with electric membership corporations (EMCs)-owned renewable energy provider Green Power EMC. The pair previously realised a 20-MW solar project in the same county.

According to the two partners’ announcement, Jeff Davis County is now one of the top solar communities in the US thanks to the two solar parks totalling 72 MW.
