Canadian photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturer Silfab Solar Inc has opened a solar module production facility in Burlington, Washington State, representing its third manufacturing base in North America.With the new factory now up and running, the company has doubled its solar panel production capacity, it said on Monday. The plant, built in order to meet the growing demand for PV products, will initially focus on the production of Silfab’s newest Silfab Prime 370wt series.Toronto-based Silfab is focused on the production of back-contact and mono PERC PV modules and is serving residential and commercial markets in North America. Its newest site is located in proximity to its PV module assembly site in the city of Bellingham, Washington, which was the subject of a USD-4-million (EUR 3.4m) investment plan last year.“Northwest Washington provides Silfab with a highly trained and motivated labor force, a location that incentivizes innovation, and ideal transportation and shipping routes that complement our just-in-time manufacturing model,” said Paolo Maccario, Silfab’s CEO.(USD 1.0 = EUR 0.845)
