Japanese renewables developer Shizen Energy Inc announced on Tuesday that a 3.1-MW rooftop solar project in Indonesia was selected to receive financial support from the Japanese Ministry of the Environment.
The project is being developed by a joint venture with compatriots Alamport Inc and NiX Co Ltd. It involves the installation of two solar power systems on top of fast-moving consumer goods and printing factories in Karawang, Java Island, that are operated by PT Kao Indonesia and PT DNP Indonesia, local subsidiaries of Japan's Kao Corp (TYO:4452) and Dai Nippon Printing Co Ltd (TYO:7912), respectively. Both companies are also part of the international consortium.
Shizen expects to gradually commence construction in December 2022, while commissioning is set for August 2023.
The Japanese financial support comes through the Financing Programme for the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) Model Projects in FY2022, which can cover up to half of the initial investment costs.
