Shell gets antitrust clearance for Cosan Biomassa deal

October 29 (Renewables Now) - Brazilian antitrust regulalor Cade gave the green light to the acquisition of a 81.5% stake in Cosan Biomassa by Anglo-Dutch oil and gas major Royal Dutch Shell Plc (AMS:RDSA).

The approval was made without restrictions and published on today's Official Gazette.

Cosan Biomassa is a Brazilian producer of sugarcane pellets for power generation.

Shell made the purchase through Raizen Energia, a joint venture between its local arm Shell Brazil Holding BV and Brazil's Cosan SA (BVMF:CSAN3), Cosan Biomassa's parent firm.
