Sharp completes 49-MW solar power plant in Vietnam

Sharp's Quang Ngai Province PV plant

June 5 (Renewables Now) – Sharp Energy Solutions Corporation (SESJ), part of Sharp Corporation (TYO:6753), said today it has completed a 49-MW direct current (DC) solar power plant in Vietnam.

The photovoltaic (PV) facility was a joint construction project with Thailand's Sermsang Power Corp, the Thanh Thanh Cong Group (TTC Group) and its subsidiary Truong Than Quang Ngai Power and High Technology Joint Stock Company.

Located in Quang Ngai Province, the solar park is expected to generate some 73,143 MWh of electricity per year, enough to meet the annual demand of 38,762 average Vietnamese homes. This plant can offset the equivalent to 24,357 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in a year, Sharp pointed out.

With the completion of this PV farm, the company now has a combined capacity of approximately 195 MW DC there. Sharp stated it is committed to help the Southeast Asian country to reach its solar capacity goal of 12,000 MW by the year 2030.
