May 24 (Renewables Now) - German wind turbine manufacturer Senvion SA (ETR:SEN) said today it has received a firm order from Grenergy Renovables SA for a 24-MW project in Argentina.

The new contract calls for Senvion to build the Kosten wind project in Chubut, a province in Patagonian Argentina between the Andes Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. The German firm will deliver six units of its 3.4M114 NES turbines and one 3.6M114 NES machine. It noted that these turbines have been specifically adapted to the project site, which experiences frequent wind peaks.

The plant is expected to be up and running in the spring of 2019.

This is Senvion’s second deal in Argentina, where it now has over 120 MW of firm contracted capacity. The company was also involved in securing financing for the Kosten project, it noted.
