SDG&E signs PPA for 130 MW PV project in California
(ADPnews) - Nov 12, 2010 - US utility San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) said Thursday it had inked a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Tenaska Solar Ventures for 130 MW of solar energy from a photovoltaic (PV) plant to be set up in California.
The developer, a unit of CSolar Development LLC, will install the plant on a 900 acre (3,010 dca) of land in the southern part of Imperial County. It would produce enough electricity to power 44,000 homes when operating at peak times, SDG&E said.
According to Tenaska, the project will create 250 jobs in the region.
The plant is scheduled to be finished in 2014.
The 25-year PPA is the third one that SDG&E signed in the county in the past six months. This summer it signed two contracts with LS Power for up to 175 MW of energy produced at its solar plant.
