Japanese renewable energy firm SB Energy Corp said today it will develop a 3.1-MW solar project in Hokkaido prefecture.
The Softbank Tomakomai Akenokita Solar Park, as the photovoltaic (PV) plant is named, is estimated to be able to produce a little over 3.8 million kWh a year, enough to supply 1,056 local households. It will cover an area of 6 hectares (14.8 acres) in Tomakomai city, the renewable energy arm of SoftBank Corp (TYO:9984) said.
The company did not state when construction works should start for this project, but it did announce that completion and power generation are scheduled for December 2018. Tomakomai Akenokita's design, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) works will be carried out by SB Energy.
At the beginning of this month, the company also announced the start of commercial operations at a 1-MW solar facility in Shizuoka prefecture.
