Finnish company Savosolar Oyj will supply more solar thermal collectors to Danish district heating plant Jelling Varmevaerk under a new EUR-0.7-million (USD 0.8m) contract.
In the spring of 2016, Savosolar delivered for Jelling Varmevaerk a solar thermal collector field comprised of 1,031 collectors. The Finnish company has now won an extension deal and plans to start manufacturing the units immediately.
Savosolar anticipates to mostly deliver the system this year and hand it over by May 2019 at the latest.
Apart from the solar thermal system, Jelling Varmevaerk also produces energy from a 1-MW wood chip boiler, a 1.5-MW absorption heat pump, three gas boilers of 15 MW and a gas engine with a capacity of 8 MW heat and 6 MW electricity, according to information on Savosolar's website.
