June 16 (Renewables Now) - US solar solutions firm Envision Solar International Inc (OTC:EVSI) said on Thursday it will supply its solar EV ARC chargers for the Santa Monica municipal airport.

The San Diego-based company got the order from the City of Santa Monica, California, as part of the city’s strategy to achieve zero carbon footprint by 2050. The EV ARC products will provide emission-free solar-powered electric vehicle (EV) charging options and emergency power at the airport.

Envision Solar’s EV ARC product fits inside a parking space and does not need any installation work. It features a solar array that follows the sun and energy storage capacity and is suitable for locations in which the construction of a solar system is complicated or not possible. It produces up to 25% more electricity as compared to a conventional fixed solar facility, according to the company.

Envision Solar believes the airport market presents significant opportunity for such solar solutions.
