Sep 28, 2011 - South Korean propylene oxide products maker SKC Ltd (SEO:011790) yesterday celebrated the completion of its factory for ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) film sheets used to encapsulate solar cells in the US state of Georgia.
The plant has two production lines which will produce 12,000 tonnes of EVA sheets a year, the company said in a statement today.
SKC said it would be able to produce different commodities at the plant, from polyester and polyurethane foams to solar battery materials.
With its four existing manufacturing lines in the Gyeonggi Province and North Chungcheong Province, and the new lines in Georgia, SKC's total annual EVA sheets production will reach 36,000 tonnes a year. SKC also plans to add five more lines in its overseas plants and boost the production to 66,000 tonnes by 2015, accounting for some 25% of the global market for EVA sheets.
