S-Energy, Cenergy Power to build 9-MW PV project in California
Aug 1, 2011 - South Korean photovoltaic (PV) power firm S-Energy (KDQ:095910) last week said it had joined hands with US commercial solar systems integrator Cenergy Power to develop a 9-MW PV complex in the US state of California.
The agreement is part of S-Energy's strategy to set foot in the North American market. The company had already established a US unit based in California in March and aims to build 120 MW of solar power plants in the US until next year.
The partners plan to break ground on the PV complex in September and complete the project by March 2012.
S-Energy said it would be the first South Korean PV module and system producer to develop and operate a US solar power plant.
The company is a spin-off from South Korean consumer electronics major Samsung Electronics (SEO:005930).
