German energy group RWE AG (ETR:RWE) will put its offshore wind and onshore wind/PV operations in two separate divisions as part of a restructuring aimed at better meeting the specific requirements of the different businesses.
The Offshore Wind division will be headed by Sven Utermoehlen, who has been chief operating officer of the global offshore wind business of RWE Renewables, RWE said on Monday. Silvia Ortín Rios, currently chief operating officer of RWE Renewables in charge of the onshore wind and PV business in the Americas, will be responsible for the Onshore Wind/PV division.
The Essen-based energy group is pursuing the ambitious goal of expanding its portfolio of wind farms, solar parks and storage systems to 13 GW by the end of 2022 and doubled its investments in renewables in the first half of 2021 to EUR 1.8 billion (USD 2.1bn) gross.
