Weekly renewables M&A round-up (Jun 27-Jul 1)
Jul 01, 2022 17:05 CESTJune 23 (Renewables Now) - RWE Renewables announced today the start of commercial operations at the 195.5-MW Hickory Park Solar facility in the US state of Georgia that features a two-hour battery storage system with a capacity of 40 MW.
The renewables unit of German energy group RWE AG (ETR:RWE) operates the solar-plus-storage plant and sells its generated power and renewable attributes to local utility Georgia Power through its Renewable Energy Development Initiative (REDI) programme. The two parties entered into a 30-year power purchase agreement (PPA) in late 2019.
The solar park was built on about 1,800 acres in Mitchell County and now consists of more than 650,000 photovoltaic (PV) panels.
RWE has over 30 renewable energy projects in operation in the US with a total installed generation capacity surpassing 5,000 MW.
