Russian BioGazEnergoStroy, Israeli firm to jointly set up 1 MW biogas power plant in Israel - report

Nov 24, 2011 - Russian biogas power plants maker BioGazEnergoStroy, has agreed with Israel's engineering firm Baran Group to jointly build and operate a 1 MW biogas power plant in northern Israel, Russian news agency Prime reports.

The two companies will co-finance on a parity basis the EUR-5-million (USD 6.7m) project that will process animal waste and crop residues to produce electricity.

The Israeli company will carry out the construction, while the Russian firm will design the plant, supply the equipment and manage the construction, which will take a year and a half.

Israel passed a law to purchase the output of 20 MW of electricity generation capacity at "green" tariffs for 20 years, which enabled the implementation of the project, according to the news agency.

The partners are expected to jointly build several biogas plants.
