Dutch dietary supplements maker Royal DSM (AMS:DSM) will be purchasing renewable electricity for its North American operations from a solar project that Denmark’s Ørsted A/S (CPH:ORSTED) is currently developing in Texas.
The companies have signed a power purchase agreement (PPA), Danish energy major Ørsted said on Thursday without specifying the name of the contracted project. The term of the deal was not disclosed either.
The off-take contract supports Royal DSM’s strategy to lower its greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) across its North American business. On a group level, the company’s goal calls for a 50% GHG reduction by 2030 from 2016 levels.
Earlier this week, Ørsted completed its 367-MW Western Trail wind farm in Texas, which took its operating onshore capacity across wind, solar and battery storage to over 2.8 GW.
