February 25 (Renewables Now) - Most power purchase agreement (PPA) news came from the US in the past two weeks. In contrast, some of the more interesting tender updates came from Asi, Europe and the Middle East.

DE Shaw Renewable Investments LLC (DESRI) has agreed to sell power from 300 MW of solar parks to Northern Virginia Electric Cooperative (NOVEC) in Virginia. Read more..

Utility-scale solar developer 7X Energy Inc will sell 250 MW of power from Phase I of its Taygete solar project in Texas under an off-take deal with an unnamed Fortune 500 company. Read more..

-- Platte River signs PPA for proposed 20-MW solar park

Platte River Power Authority, a Colorado-based not-for-profit community-owned electric utility, has signed a PPA with GCL New Energy Holdings Ltd (HKG:0451) and developer and operator DEPCOM Power for the output of a 20-MW solar farm. Read more..

Australian fuel refiner Viva Energy Group Ltd has signed a PPA with Spain’s Acciona SA (BME:ANA) for the output of the 132-MW Mount Gellibrand wind farm. Read more..

US solar developer Sunpin Holdings LLC will sell the output of its 74.8-MW ColGreen North Shore Power Plant in California to a North American unit of UK’s Centrica plc (LON:CNA). Read more..

-- Canadian Solar wins PPAs for 94 MWp in Alberta

Canadian Solar Inc (NASDAQ:CSIQ) has won 94-MWp of subsidy-free solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in the latest Alberta province auction. In all, the company was awarded three PPAs with Alberta's Ministry of Infrastructure at an average price of CAD 48.05 (USD 36.28/EUR 32.11) per MWh. Read more..

German utility EnBW Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg AG (ETR:EBK) has signed a 15-year PPA for the output of a 85-MW solar park in northeastern Germany that will be built by project developer Energiekontor AG (ETR:EKT). Read more..

Lekela Power has sealed a PPA with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Co (EETC) for its 250-MW wind farm in the Gulf of Suez, Egypt. Read more..

EDP Renewables said has agreed to sell electricity from the 104-MW Crossing Trails wind project in Colorado to Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association (Tri-State). Read more..

The UK government has set May 29, 2019 as the prospective start date for the country’s third contract for difference (CfD) auction for renewable energy projects with a proposed cap of 6 GW. Read more..

-- Germany's latest tenders award 476 MW wind, 178 MW solar

Wind and solar projects with a combined capacity of 476 MW and 178 MW, respectively, have won the two German tenders with a deadline of February 1, 2019. The awarded wind volume represents 68% of the targeted capacity as the Federal Network Agency received just 499 MW of bids. The tender aimed to award 700 MW. Read more..

-- Tender for 2-GW solar project starts in Abu Dhabi

The Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) has issued an expression of interest (EoI) for the development of a 2-GW solar photovoltaic (PV) project at Al Dhafra, near Abu Dhabi. The utility will await proposals by March 5. Read more..
