September 27 (Renewables Now) - Just a few weeks after opening an office in Vietnam, Chinese solar module producer Risen Energy Co Ltd (SHE:300118) has signed a contract with a local firm for a 61-MW project in Ninh Thuan province.

The deal was entered into with Vietnam-based company Tasco and concerns a project with a power purchase agreement (PPA) in place, according to the announcement made Thursday. Risen Energy will supply 330-W high-efficiency polycrystalline modules for that plant.

A ground-breaking ceremony for this project is scheduled to take place this month, while completion is expected next year.

Risen Energy opened an office in Vietnam’s capital of Hanoi in August to invest in power stations and provide engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services in the country. Under the initial roadmap, the Vietnamese office is looking to get involved in EPC projects totalling 150 MW during 2018 and to double the figure by 2019.
