Spanish energy company Repsol SA (BME:REP) has entered into a strategic collaboration with the cloud services unit of Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) that includes the signing of power purchase agreements (PPAs) tied to 234 MW of renewables in Spain.
Repsol will provide wind and solar energy to Amazon in support of the US e-commerce giant’s goal of powering its operations with 100% renewable energy by 2030 and achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.
The strategic collaboration will also see Amazon Web Services (AWS) provide the Spanish firm with new cloud services to help it speed up and strengthen its digital transformation.
The two companies will also look into other collaboration initiatives, such as the creation of a transversal platform in order to systematically analyze business opportunities in mobility and electricity generation.
