Renova Energia SA (BVMF:RNEW11) said on Wednesday that some wind farms in the 736.8-MW Alto Sertao III complex in Bahia will not come online on time due to transmission line delays.
The information was disclosed during Renova's second quarter results presentation. Investor relations and new business director, Pedro Pileggi, said the new deadline for the completion of the transmission lines had been changed to September 30. This delay of nearly a month is affecting 392 MW of installed wind capacity, according to Canal Energia.
The Brazilian company has been forced to renegotiate the supply schedule of some contracts for January 2016. Where renegotiation was not possible, the company will have to buy power from other generators to cope with the contractual commitments.
Apart from the negative financial effect, the delays would also trouble the government's energy schedule.
