Renewable Energy Asia wins permit for 30-MW solar project in China
Sep 25, 2012 - Chinese wind and solar developer Renewable Energy Asia Group (SGX:5DW), or REA, today said it had received approval from the Gansu Development and Reform Committee to develop a 30-MW solar farm in the northern Chinese province of Gansu.
REA said it would now launch a feasibility study for the project, which is to be located in East Town, Yumen City in Jiuquan. The company has a year to prepare the study and make a filing for a final go-ahead for construction. The CNY-350-million (USD 55.5m/EUR 42.9m) project is to be funded through a mixture of equity and external debt, it said.
This is the latest solar project for REA in Jiuquan since the company agreed a deal with the Jiuquan government in 2010 for renewable energy development. The previous schemes include a 9-MW solar facility currently under construction in Dongdongtan's Photovoltaic Industrial District. The projects are part of the Jiuquan government's plans to establish 100 MW of photovoltaic (PV) capacity in the city, REA said.
