Chinese solar company ReneSola Ltd (NYSE:SOL) announced on Thursday it has won 5 MW of agricultural photovoltaic (PV) power projects in Thailand.
The country’s Energy Regulation Commission has recently awarded 119 MW of agricultural cooperative projects and 52 MW of government agency projects to developers selected by a “lucky-draw system”, ReneSola said.
The company noted that all of these solar farm projects are eligible for a guaranteed tariff of THB 4.12 (USD 0.12/EUR 0.11) per kWh. They should be connected to the grid by December 31, 2018 and will be selling their output under 25-year deals.
"This program is an example of the innovative ways that the Thai government is encouraging the development of renewable power in their country. We look forward to further supporting solar deployment in Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries," said Xianshou Li, chairman and CEO of ReneSola.
