ReneSola ships first Virtus PV products to Europe

Jul 14, 2011 - Chinese photovoltaics (PV) maker ReneSola Ltd (NYSE:SOL) yesterday said it had shipped 54.8 MW of wafers and 20 MW of modules to European customers in June, marking the initial supplies of its Virtus PV product line.

The company said its Virtus multicrystalline wafers, launched in January 2011, were among the most efficient wafers in the industry. The Virtus wafer line comprises a higher grade V-Grade Virtus wafers with cell conversion efficiency of 17.5% to 18.2%, and a lower grade M-Grade Virtus wafers with efficiency of 16.7% to 17%.

ReneSola's current annual Virtus wafer production capacity is 900 MW and is planned to grow to 1.8 GW by the end of 2011.

According to ReneSola's CEO, Xianshou Li, the company will discontinue 200 MW of monocrystalline wafer production to concentrate on multicrystalline wafers.

ReneSola added that it was in process of applying for 10 patents for its Virtus wafers and modules and for trademark protection in a number of countries.
