Reive Barros dos Santos takes office as president of Brazil's EPE
Reive Barros dos Santos has taken office as president of Brazil's state-owned energy research firm EPE, the institution announced on Tuesday.
Barros dos Santos was nominated by the country's president Michel Temer on May 17 through a decree published in the country's official gazette. Prior to this new appointment, he served as director of the national power sector regulator Aneel.
Barros dos Santos has worked in large companies of the power sector in the areas of distribution and transmission of electricity.
EPE is responsible for carrying out studies and research to support energy planning. It aims to remain as a reference of the Brazilian energy planning as well as become a world reference, the institution noted.
