Nov 2, 2011 - US solar power systems provider REC Solar has agreed a deal to distribute General Electric Co's (NYSE:GE) WattStation electric vehicle (EV) charger.
REC Solar said the partnership with GE Energy Industrial Solutions would allow it to address the rising demand from its residential and commercial customers for EV chargers to be incorporated into the solar installation process.
Due to its simple installation, WattStation сs suitable for all kinds of solar systems, REC Solar's statement said.
The company's chef executive, Lee Johnson, noted that as one million EVs were expected to hit US roads by 2016, there was a need for a sustainable EV infrastructure to be created. In addition to delivering environmental benefits, using more solar power with EVs would prevent the electrical grid from being overwhelmed by the inflow of EV chargers, Johnson said.
