Norway’s REC Group will introduce in the US its 380-Wp, 60-cell solar photovoltaic (PV) panel for rooftop applications next week, it announced on Tuesday.
The company will present the new product to its US clients at Solar Power International's North America Smart Energy Week in Salt Lake City on September 24. It claims the so-called REC Alpha Series panel is the world’s most powerful 60-cell monocrystalline solar panel for use on rooftops, with an efficiency of up to 21.7%. This, the manufacturer explained, means 20% more power produced as compared to a system with the same number of conventional panels.
"The REC Alpha Series' next-generation technology shows increased energy production, with higher lifetime yield, and is designed with an incredibly strong and aesthetically pleasing, sleek frame," said Cary Hayes, president of REC Group America.
The new product has already been granted a design patent. The Norwegian group previously said it plans to manufacture this module at its vertically integrated facility in Singapore, which will be expanded with a USD-150-million (EUR 135.8m) investment to reach an annual production capacity of 600 MW.
