Ram Power progresses with geothermal plant expansion project in Nicaragua

Oct 17, 2011 - US geothermal energy company Ram Power Corp (TSE:RPG) said today it had reached mechanical completion of the first stage of expansion at its 10-MW geothermal power plant in San Jacinto-Tizate, Nicaragua.

The project will boost the plant's capacity by 36 MW. Ram Power said that plant commissioning activities have already began, while commercial operation at the facility is seen to start in December.

The company has planned a second phase of expansion, which is to add another 36 MW to the San Jacinto plant's capacity. Completion is expected in December 2012. Once all expansion activities are completed, Ram Power will decommission the older 10-MW backpressure units, it said.
