Raizen to crush up to 54m t sugar cane this crop year

Oct 12, 2011 - Raizen, the ethanol joint venture (JV) of Brazilian sugar and ethanol producer Cosan (SAO:CSAN3) and Anglo-Dutch oil major Royal Dutch Shell( AMS:RDSA, LON:RDSA), is expected to crush between 53 million and 54 million tonnes of sugar cane in crop year 2011/2012.
This volume is practically the same as the volume crushed in 2010/2011, ended on March 31, 2011, when the company processed 54 million tonnes. The industrial capacity of Raizen's 24 plants is 64 million tonnes.
Nevertheless, the vice-president of sugar and ethanol of Raizen, Pedro Mizutani, noted that the projected performance for 2011/2012 is in line with the management's expectations.
