French independent power producer Quadran will build 17 solar power plants with a combined capacity of 52.5 MWp, all selected in the latest French solar power auction "CRE3", the company said on Tuesday.
The projects include eight ground-mounted solar power plants with a combined capacity of 41.1 MWp, seven parking canopies of 10 MWp and two rooftop installations of 1.4 Mwp in total.
Quadran, which came into being in June 2013 following the merger of Aerowatt and JMB Energie, had 96.5 MWp sited in 118 solar power plants in operation at the end of November.
The company is also active in wind, hydro and biogas energy. A portfolio of 180 sites with a combined capacity of 400 MW brought in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of EUR 51 million (USD 55.3m) on a revenue of EUR 75 million in 2014.
Quadran currently has under construction about 100 MW of renewable energy power plants which will be put into operation in 2016. Its pipeline includes 250 MW more projects with permits, ready for construction over the next two years and another 700 MW at various stages of development in France and abroad.
Quadran is targeting to have 500 MW in operation in 2016 and double the figure to 1000 MW in 2020.
