December 2 (Renewables Now) - Quadran Brasil, the local unit of French renewable energy company Quadran International, plans to build and operate some 200 MW of wind parks in Piaui state, the local government said on Friday.

During a meeting between representatives of Quadran Brasil and government officials, the company committed to invest around BRL 1 billion (USD 235.8m/EUR 214m) in this project.

Governor Wellington Dias, believes the project is a driver for job creation, income and development for the state and for this reason will help look for alternatives with Brazilian Northeast Development Superintendence, or Sudene, and to gather resources for the project financing, according to the announcement.

Quadran Brasil has projects under construction in other northeastern Brazilian states such as Ceara and Rio Grande do Norte.
