Green energy group Q Energy and Berlin-based solar developer Lunaco GmbH are planning to develop 500 MW of ground-mounted solar projects across Germany, starting with two schemes totalling 84 MW in the northeast.
The first two projects will have a capacity of 32 MW and 52 MW and will be located in the Lewitzrand municipality in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Q Energy said on Tuesday.
A decision for the development planning process has been made for both schemes, paving the way for their development to the shovel-ready stage.
Once operational, the two solar parks will be capable of supplying more than 20,000 households.
The projects in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are a further milestone on Q Energy's way to expanding its pipeline across Germany, said chief executive Sang Chull Chung. Q Energy, a subsidiary of South Korea's Hanwha Solutions Corp (KRX:009830), has a development pipeline of more than 12 GW of solar, wind and energy storage projects across Europe with a focus on Portugal, Spain, France and Germany.
Earlier this year, the company unveiled a partnership with start-up Enviria, targeting the co-development of a 500-MW portfolio of ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Germany.
