Canada’s Aurora Solar Technologies Inc (CVE:ACU) has received a repeat order from a China-based manufacturer of high-efficiency PERC solar cells for 20 units of the DM-110e measurements systems.
Aurora said in a statement that this is the largest single order it has received to date by unit volume. It did not mention the name of the customer, which, according to CEO Gordon Deans is “one of the largest solar cell manufacturers in the industry.” That same company made an initial order in June. The purchased equipment is expected to be shipped by October 2019.
The DM-110e is a variant of Aurora’s DM measurement system, specifically designed for the needs of the Chinese market. It measures the emitter sheet resistance within crystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) wafers.
The Canadian firm’s year-to-date orders now exceed CAD 3 million (USD 2.27m/EUR 2.06m) in value, it said, adding that most of the orders came from Chinese manufacturers and automation system providers.
Aurora is also bidding on a number of large repeat orders, both in China and elsewhere in East Asia. It anticipates winning additional volume orders in the coming months.
