Sep 13, 2013 - Economic hurdles and an inadequate communication between installation firms and end customers are among the reasons for the weak offer of storage options to solar panel owners in Germany.
A study of EuPD Research showed Thursday that about 20% of the end customers were asked whether they wanted to combine their photovoltaic (PV) installation with a solar storage system.
An exception are the clients of IBC Solar since they get an offer by their installer for a battery system almost twice as often, Thomas Olbrecht, senior manager at EuPD Research, said.
Varta emerged as the most popular PV storage brand. The study further examined the brand choice of buyers among module and inverter manufacturers. Other topics were maintenance and operation of solar power installations.
Typical PV end customers have a net household income of at least EUR 3,000 (USD 4,000).
