Proinso supplies PV materials for 145 kW of projects in Africa

Jun 19, 2013 - Spanish solar distributor Proinso said Tuesday it had supplied modules and inverters for two self-consumption solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Africa with a combined capacity of 145 kW.

One of the installations is of 100 kW and will supply electricity to the Assmang Khumani mine in South Africa's Northern Cape province. The other project has a capacity of 45 kW and will generate power for the premises of the Namibian Development Corporation (NDC) in the city of Windhoek, Namibia.

Proinso delivered modules of Canadian Solar Inc (NASDAQ:CSIQ) and inverters of German SMA Solar Technology AG (ETR:S92) for both solar systems in collaboration with its exclusive partner for South Africa, African Solar Power. The Spanish company said the deals strengthened its presence in Africa. It has recently opened a branch in South Africa and its international network currently includes 18 African qualified installers.
