October 21 (SeeNews) - PowerChina (SHA:601669) said Wednesday it has completed the first turbine foundation at the 49.5-MW Dawood wind power plant in Pakistan’s province of Sindh on October 17.
The wind park, located in the city of Karachi, will use 33 units of 1.5-MW turbines. The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor will have to take special anti-erosion measures when building its foundations due to the plant's proximity to the Arabian sea, it pointed out in a press release.
HydroChina Corp, which is part of the engineering and construction major, managed to sign a deal with Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, or ICBC, for a USD-78.8-million (EUR 69.4m) credit line to back the Dawood facility in March. Upon completion, the plant is expected to generate approximately 130,131 MWh of electricity per year.
PowerChina, also known as Power Construction Corp of China, provides engineering and construction services globally with a focus on renewables, thermal power and power transmission projects.
