September 28 (Renewables Now) - Portugal and the Netherlands last week announced a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on  green hydrogen development.

The two countries will work together to explore the potential of securing approval for a hydrogen project as an Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) under the European Union (EU) state aid rules.

The cooperation, which brings together Portugal and the Netherlands' 2030 hydrogen plans, also includes exchange of knowledge and information on hydrogen between the two countries and promotion of research and development (R&D) associated with the hydrogen value chain.

A working group will support the IPCEI notification, while also defining mechanisms and conditions for the export of green hydrogen from Portugal.
