Photon Energy comes for piece of Polish solar, names country head

Photon Energy NV (WSE:PEN) has arrived in Poland’s solar power market and appointed Maciej Gorski as country head.

Gorski will steer Photon’s long-term strategy in Poland, having previously forged a career in corporate finance and in energy. He has previously served as a board member of energy company Enea SA (WSE:ENA) and as CEO of PGE Energia Odnawialna, the renewables arm of Polish utility PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA (WSE:PGE).

In Poland, Photon intends to apply its integrated business model, which covers the entire life-cycle of photovoltaic (PV) plants. It will run the business through its Warsaw-based fully owned subsidiary Photon Energy Polska Sp zoo and is currently in the process of setting an operations and maintenance (O&M) unit in the city of Lodz.

The Amsterdam-based company is listed on the local alternative stock market NewConnect. As of recently, Photon has been preparing to move to the main market of the Warsaw Stock Exchange, where it would be the first listed solar company, it said.
