Petrolera Argentina opens biodiesel plant in Neuquen
(ADPnews) - Dec 14, 2010 - Maikop, a subsidiary of oil refiner Petrolera Argentina, inaugurated yesterday a biodiesel plant in the western Neuquen province.
The facility, located in Plaza Huincul industrial park, has an installed capacity of 90,000 tonnes a year.
However, at the moment it can only produce 40,000 tonnes a year, under an authorisation of Argentina's Energy Secretariat.
Maikop has already asked for an increase of the capacity, to 80,000 tonnes a year as of 2011.
Part of the biodiesel production will supply a plant of Argentine oil company YPF (BUE:YPFD) in the Mendoza province.
Another part may be exported to Chile, the president of Petrolera Argentina, Miguel Schvartzbaum, said.
