Peru clears Hot Rock to explore Turu area

Dec 6, 2011 - Peru's energy and mines ministry yesterday authorised Australian geothermal energy company Hot Rock Ltd (ASX:HRL) to explore the Turu area, located in the southern regions of Arequipa and Cusco.
The permit is for three years. The exploration works are divided in two phases, with the first one scheduled for 24 months.
Hot Rock will start the works when it has an approved environmental impact study for the project, the ministry said.
Apart from Turu, Hot Rock has another granted project in Peru named Rupha. The company is also applying for permits to explore the Huarajayoc, Achumani, Chocopata, Quellaapacheta, Ocururane and Achuco areas.
