Peru allows Magma Energia to explore Pasto area

Jul 18, 2011 - Peru's energy and mines ministry authorised yesterday local geothermal firm Magma Energia Geotermica Peru to explore geothermal resources in the Pasto area located in southern regions of Moquegua and Puno.
The company, owned by Canadian geothermal explorer Alterra Power Corp (CVE:AXY), formerly Magma Energy Corp, will have 24 months to carry out the explorations.
The company will not start the works before its environmental impact study is approved by the ministry.
In April 2011, Magma Energia submitted two requests to explore the Crucero and Loriscota areas, located in Moquegua and Puno, respectively.
