Pakistan, USA to partner on 150 MW wind power project in Pakistan
(ADPnews) - Nov 17, 2010 - Pakistan and USA on Sunday entered into a partnership agreement for the development of a 150 MW wind power project for USD 375 million (EUR 277.4m) in Pakistan.
The public-private agreement was signed by US Agency for International Development (USAID) Pakistan Mission, Pakistan Ministry of Water and Power, American power company AES Corp, and US Overseas Private Investment Corp (OPIC).
According to Richard Holbrooke, US special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, the project can power 600,000 households and will reduce Pakistan's need to import fuel, saving USD 45 million a year.
The project is expected to be completed in two years.
