Pakistan receives 17 bids for deployment of 3 GW of wind power - report
Dec 13, 2011 - Pakistan's Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB) has attracted 17 bids from local and international firms to install 3 GW of wind power projects in the country, national daily Nation reported in the weekend, citing AEDB officials.
Currently, wind power projects with a total capacity exceeding 500 MW are under development in Pakistan under generation licences issued to six independent power producers (IPPs) and are expected to be completed in 2013, the officials told the daily. The 6-MW first phase of Turkish Zorlu Enerji Elektrik Uretim's (IST:ZOREN) 56.4-MW wind farm is already operational.
The AEDB has allocated land for 18 IPPs for wind power projects of 50 MW each at different stages of approval and 35 IPPS have letter of intent from the AEDB for wind power projects, the daily said, citing official documents of the AEDB.
