US solar project developer OYA Solar on Tuesday said it has started construction on five community solar projects in the state of New York with a combined capacity of 25 MW direct current (DC).
The projects, Pulaski, Main Street, Church Street A, Robinson Road and Wayside Drive, are located across the state, in Jefferson, Livingston, Onondaga and Oswego counties. They will expand access to solar to local businesses and residents under the Value of Distributed Energy Resources (VDER) programme of the New York State Energy Research and Development Association (NYSERDA).
The five projects add to the 7-MW DC State Route 122A solar project in Franklin County, which is already under construction, the company said. It expects to build a further 140 MW DC of community solar projects in New York, besides the six under construction, by the end of 2022.
OYA Solar says it has a pipeline of 2 GW DC of community solar and utility-scale projects.
