January 10 (Renewables Now) - Independent solar power producer (IPP) Sonnedix Power Holdings said today it has bought 53 MW of ground and roof-mounted solar systems in Italy from Graziella Green Power SpA.

A day earlier, iAM Capital Group Plc announced the sale of a 34.4-MW solar portfolio in the country to EF Solare Italia Spa.

Sonnedix reached 181 MW of operational capacity in Italy with the Graziella transaction. In addition to the 28 photovoltaic (PV) systems acquired already, it will buy one 2-MW plant soon under the sale and purchase agreement from December. The assets are located in the regions of Basilicata, Sardegna, Toscana and Umbria.

EF Solare Italia reaches a capacity of almost 800 MW with the latest transaction. It has acquired Econergy Renewables 1 SpA, the owner of the 34.4-MW solar portfolio, from iAM, afficilates and minority partners.

“Prices in the secondary Italian solar energy market have appreciated steadily since the acquisition of our portfolio in 2016. After monitoring marketing trends, we decided to take advantage of favourable conditions to exit the investment with a solid return for our shareholders and co-investors,” said iAM Capital CEO Emanuel Arbib.

Both Sonnedix and EF Solare Italia are exploring further opportunities to grow their portfolios in Italy.
