NSP leads Taiwan's solar module market in H1 - EnergyTrend

September 17 (Renewables Now) - In the first half of 2018,  the leading solar module supplier in the Taiwanese market in terms of shipments was Taiwan's Neo Solar Power Corp (TPE:3576), or NSP, which surpassed AU Optronics Corp (TPE:2409), or AUO.

The two companies are now Taiwan's main suppliers, EnergyTrend, the green energy research unit of Taiwan's TrendForce said today, adding that going forward it will be seen how domestic module makers rush to tap the market's "huge potential". The local competitors include the new joint venture TSMMC, TSEC Corp (TPE:6443), and United Renewable Energy Co Ltd, which is to be formed through the merger of NSP, Gintech Energy (TPE:3514) and Solartech Energy (TPE:3561) in October this year.

The top inverter supplier was Taiwan's Delta Electronics Inc (TPE:2308), which accounted for 40% of the market. It was followed by Satcon Technology Corp and SMA Solar Technology (ETR:S92), Huawei Technologies (SHE:002502) and Allis Electric Co Ltd (TPE:1514).  

EnergyTrend said that he first half of 2018 saw falling photovoltaic (PV) system costs, which are approaching the level in Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. System costs are expected to fall further in the second half of the year.
