Norwegian REC, Summit Power team up on US solar projects JV
(ADPnews) - Dec 2, 2010 - Norwegian photovoltaic (PV) equipment maker Renewable Energy Corp ASA (OSL:REC) and power plant developer Summit Power Group of Seattle on Tuesday announced they had set up a joint venture to develop large-scale PV projects in the western part of the US.
The new company -- NorthLight Power -- has recently secured a power purchase agreement with power utility Pacific Gas and Electric Co (PG&E) for a 60-MW solar project. The North Star solar power plant is to be up and running in 2013, bringing enough electricity to power some 40,000 households in the daytime.
Up to now, Summit Power has developed more than 7,000 MW of power generating facilities in the US.
